Using survey data by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, researchers found disheartening results about depression treatment. Depression is often not correctly diagnosed, and even when it is, depression often goes untreated.
According to the survey results, only 28.7% of those with depression received any treatment. In addition, of those being treated for depression, only 29.9% were actually clinically depressed.
Clearly, there is still work to be done when it comes to aligning patients suffering from depression and treatment. If you are feeling symptoms of depression, be sure to seek medical help. By doing so, you will be helping to ease this problem.
