Join LEAD Pittsburgh on May 30th at 6:30pm at the Squirrel Hill Starbucks on Forbes & Shady for a discussion about “Head and Heart.” Through the discussion, we hope to illuminate the connection between our mental and physical health.
The event will be hosted by Danyelle Hooks, who is a Recovery Specialist for Allegheny County, working to promote wellness, recovery, and resiliency, end stigma, and advocate for community integration through holistic initiatives. She is also the Project Coordinator for Stand Together, a program that works with adolescents to challenge stigma and discuss mental health conditions in schools. In addition, Danyelle has published a podcast for the Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance’s Young Adult Council on this topic. Most importantly, as a person with ‘lived experience,’ she knows first-hand the struggles-and successes-that accompany mental health conditions. Danyelle is living proof that people can, and do recover and do amazing things, including triathlons!
